To the Zoo

Today I packed up my kiddies and went to the zoo.

We went by ourselves.

We had a good time.

Ben said goodbye to every animal he saw.

It was the one of the cutest things ever.

A shark wanted to taste Evey for a snack. Watch how he opens his mouth...ew.

Airhead

It's true folks...I am a complete airhead without my husband. We are so connected and balanced that without him...I feel a little bit lost. Today was my first outing to a place I'd never been without Rick. I went to a girls night out with some of the wives in the unit. It was a nice time. I got there a little after six after sitting in horrible traffic for awhile. We ate, we talked, it was nice, but then I realized it was 8pm and thought I should probably get home to my kiddos.

I said my goodbyes and left the restaurant. A couple of guys outside made some comments to me..told me to drive safely, then laughed at me when I walked the wrong way...I got in my car and it smelled funny....ding, ding, ding...oh that's right. I picked up 3 rolls of sod like 5 seconds before dropping the kids off at a friend's house. No problem...I hit "go home" on the gps and away I went....wrong way on a one way street...flustered I tried to get on the shoulder out of the way of the lady who surely thought I was a lunatic....only to realize that I'd left the restaurant without paying for my meal....

After picking up the kids....Ben and I had a great convo on the way home. Really, he was so cute...anyway..we got home and then I realized I still had 3 rolls of sod in the back of my car..so I busted out the hose, gloves, and knife and started laying sod in the dark.

An emotional break down and a few chocolate chip cookies later..this airhead is ready for bed....

Sleeping Beauties

Two of the sweetest sleepers I've ever seen...and don't you just love Ben's highlights...little blond cutie. Evey has some highlights too, but less noticeable in a photo.

It was so hot today (in the house anyway..not as hot as it has been) and I cleaned the entire upstairs. FINALLY! It's been a mess for months.

Does it seem like all I do is clean stuff? I am beginning to feel the same way...I also do other things too...like go to church, play group, hang with friends occasionally...so for those who were worried, I'm not a shut in!

Kids are sleeping and it's almost 10..I'm feeling like I need some extra sleep, so goodnight!

Doesn't get much cuter than this...

Hmm..or this could be deemed inappropriate for a blog...let me know what you think!

Nights Are Hard

Days go by rather quickly...I busy myself with meaningful (less) tasks..like making my house immaculate...organizing closets, and even straightening up the garage a bit. Today I attempted to mow the lawn, but I couldn't get the lawn mower to start. I bought a "hose hanger" for the side of the house..and I pre-drilled the holes and everything..but I know that's a task my husband would do if he were here...and if he was here the darn thing would be perfectly straight....I washed both cars, and I cleaned out the Chrysler..it's ready for selling, but no one wants to buy it. I'm sick of looking at it. I'm sick of having Ben see it and say "daddy house."

We've developed a routine, and it works. But I just find myself wishing Rick would come home and ruin it. And when I say ruin it..I mean come home and make life..OUR life. Together.

Today, I figured out why I go to bed early..it's because night time makes me miss my husband. Right now..I miss my husband. :-/

It's only been 11 days...some might think I'm being a little dramatic. But 11 days already feels like an eternity. It's hard not to talk to him or know where he is or what he's doing. It's hard when I don't know when I might talk to him again. They tell me it gets easier..with the routine and then the days will roll on and the end will be hard again....well, we'll see. I don't spend my days sulking...but I have my moments.
