Ev Says Mama

Ev says "mama" and we wanted to show Daddy! Please excuse our attention hogging son in the background...

You asked it.

The question has been posed...

Why are your children always naked?

My children are not always naked...except in the yard..I try to put bathing suits on them most of the time, but the bathing suits have been in the laundry...regular diapers get nasty in water, which is where they like to spend most of their time..so since it's hot, our yard is fenced in, and we might be slightly redneck, I just let them be naked.

Anything else you'd like to know? :)

Happy 7

Evey Girl is 7 months old today! I can't believe how fast these months have gone by. I'm amazed at all she can do..I'm certain she'll be walking by 9 months at the latest.

In other news, it wasn't as hot today...but I did end up returning the air conditioner. It just wasn't doing the job, so I figured it would be best to have the money instead. We got Popsicles, I took pictures of that, but I didn't take them off my camera yet...

Another day under our belts...woohoo. :)

One Little Act

I was out and about this morning and Ben started asking me to "eeeeat!" I was hungry too so we stopped at the Red Robin. I had Evey in my arms and Ben was walking beside me. I had my diaper bag and my purse. I didn't look overwhelmed. I wasn't feeling overwhelmed...Until...we got inside, and probably 3 people right off the bat asked me if someone else would be joining us. I was letting it stress me out, even though I shouldn't..I was sad. I knew the implication was that daddy should be meeting us for lunch. The manager happened to be standing there also, and maybe saw the expression change in my eyes...he redirected the focus to my kids..Asking me their names and how old they were, and joking if Ben wanted to trade him shoes. He was really sweet.

We were finally seated and our server walked over and introduced himself. He asked me for the fourth time if I was waiting for someone else. Like word vomit..I just blurted out, "Nope, it's just us today, Daddy is in Afghanistan." I felt bad after, like I was using it as some kind of crutch, but I just couldn't be asked another time if I was "waiting on someone." Maybe because, the reality is that I am..but he won't make it to the next 344 lunches. Something about the question just stung me a little.

So anyway, our server was great, calling the kids by name, joking with Ben every time he walked by, giving him a balloon, smiling and cooing over Evey..refilling drinks like he was the drink master...we finished eating and the manager walked over. He said, "I just had to look at these beautiful children one more time...and I wanted you to know, that I am grateful every day for your sacrifice, your husband is a hero, but so are you..and your lunch is on us today."

I can't tell you how unbelievably touched I was. It was all I could do to keep myself from crying in the restaurant.....

AC Baby

I'm not sure if you can see...but there is a little bead of sweat rolling down the side of his face...His hair is obviously soaked...it was 104 degrees today. With no AC..that means misery.

However, we picked up our new ac unit today and it is working hard to cool off the living room! A friend of ours from church graciously came over and put it in for me..and I hung up curtains in the arch ways to keep in the cold..so I am hoping that by morning..this place is cooled off and bearable!

Also...I love you Richard. :)

We're Melting...

Today it was 94 or something like that...which is quite ridiculous when you don't have air conditioning. Our house was a sauna...well..IS a sauna. I can't put Ben upstairs because it's WAY too hot. His little head is soaked with sweat.

It's supposed to be 99 on Wednesday. I think I'll check into a hotel. :)
