Mid Night Success

It took me three days, and Benjamin is sleeping through the night. (Well, to 5:30am, but that works for me.)

Day 1: He woke up at 2:30 and cried until 4am.
Day 2: Woke up at 1:47 and cried until 3:20.
Day 3: woke up at 2:47 and was sleeping again by 3.
And last night, He went down at 9pm and didn't wake up until 5. So I got a decent night's sleep. Yay.

So, I am proud of myself for sticking with it. It wasn't fun though. (Before I let him cry it out I first eliminated the mid night feeding)

...it seems like Benjamin turned six months old and all of the sudden his nap schedule changed. He was napping twice a day from around 10am-12pm and then again from 1pm-3pm. Now he will stay up until 12pm and take a shorter nap and then a longer nap around 3pm. I thought this would interfere with his night time sleep, but it doesn't seem to. So I don't care. I just make sure he's awake by 5pm at the latest.

We haven't been doing much. Just hanging out and doing photo shoots. My favorite. :)
I have to take advantage while he's still immobile.

Rick qualified easily on his land navigation test. They had to wander through the woods and find four GPS points. They also did some night time/early morning road marches with ruck sacks...little to no sleep...But, since everyone passed they got to come back early and rest for the weekend. So I did get to talk to him a little bit yesterday. They are going back out to the field tomorrow or Monday.

Anyway...that's all for now.

To the doctor.

I took Ben to the doctor yesterday. He has a cold. So I've got some saline spray for his nose and it should start to clear up in the next couple of days. He weighs 19 pounds even. Surprising to me. I thought he was getting heavier by the minute! They didn't measure his height or head. But he has a well baby appointment next week to check his overall well being and catch up on his shots... :(

Half a Year.

Happy Six Months Benjamin Isaiah!

Here is a list of some of the things he can do.

  1. He can sit up on his own. (Since around 5 months)
  2. He is "talking" things like dada, blah, buh buh....it's so cute.
  3. He has very good hand/eye skills. He can even get the spoon in his mouth when I put food on it.
  4. He is scooting and getting very good at getting toys out of his reach.
  5. He knows he has feet and he just recently discovered his ears.
  6. He has started screaming/yelling to get my attention. (obnoxious, but adorable)
  7. Today he pulled himself up on the side of the bath tub...I'm gonna be in trouble once he gets mobile..I just know it. It was incredibly cute though, because he was all smiley over his new accomplishment.

He has learned so much in such a short time. It's amazing to watch him grow and change and reach new milestones. I love it.

Anyway...I am finally taking him to the doctor tomorrow...I feel like such a terrible mother. I am pretty sure I'm not though..lol. He has a cold now, and he needs to be seen.

Rick is in the field now for the next three weeks. I hate not being able to talk to him daily. He did text me to say that he is sleeping under the stars...sleeping bag on dirt. He has to wake up at 3am and do some land navigation stuff which he really enjoys.

That's all I've got for today...I need a snack now.

Prayers...

Please pray for Rick as he leaves for his 3 week long field exercise. And also for a young baby that belongs to a family from our church. He is just a month old and in ICU for a flu like virus he has. It's blocked his air ways and he is breathing by tube. Very scary.
