Just Keep Swimming...

Finally, the big pool is open!

Benjamin has been afraid of the water ever since we took that 4th of July trip to San Diego. It was just before his first birthday and he was washed up by a wave. Pretty traumatic for all of us actually...

Anyway, he's been terrified of the ocean, the beach, and pools..basically all "big" water.

So, on Saturday, I forced him into the pool. At first, he hung onto me for dear life, then he let me drag him around the water, then he got brave enough to let go of me and sit on the ladder...a little while after that he was jumping off the edge while holding my hands...and finally at the end of the day he dared to jump of the edge wearing only swimmies! I was so proud of him.

Evey, of course, has no fear of anything....well, except dogs. She was a little traumatized by a dog that is easily 5x her size. He just ran towards her, and now all dogs, except the little ones, freak her out. Anyway, she jumped right in, no problem...and even though she was shivering, she kept going back for more. I had to force her to sit in the baby pool where it was warm, but she never wanted to stay there.

Overall, it was a fantastic day.

Today, it was cloudy, and we didn't even step outside! It kind of made for a rough day....but later when the thunder storms arrived, we had dinner and then kitchen danced the night away...
