Fun Saturday

We had a lot packed into our day today. Richard had staff duty yesterday so he spent the night on the floor in his office! He was home by 9:30ish this morning and then went to do more work in the garage...so far, as the garage gets cleaner, the house gets messier. :( Oh well. It will even out eventually...hopefully by the end of the weekend. Richard is off until Tuesday.

After eating breakfast and doing some stuff in the garage we headed off to get a 3D/4D ultrasound. I wanted to do it when I was pregnant with Benjamin, but you know, Germany...So, since I don't know if or when I'll be pregnant again, we decided to do it this time. I also thought that if we saw the baby's face we might be able to better decide on a name. (Not so much...but it was still really cool) I think she looks like Benjamin though, and she has my nose, according to both Rick and my dad. :) Now..if we can get some brown eyes, we'll be all set.

Look at those perfect little lips :)

See, my Benny has them too. This is him only a few hours old. A good view of her lips and nose. Aww....seriously, he's so precious. 16 months old as of yesterday...where does the time go?!

And here she is yawning. 3D ultrasounds work with a "picture box" thing...so anything out of the "box" gets distorted or is black space. Which is why you can only see parts of her little face. We had a really fun time though watching her wiggle around, stick her entire hand in her mouth, and even attempt to suck on her toes. It was fun for me because she was moving around and now I now what she is doing in there when I'm feeling those odd rolling movements.

Once that was over, we went to Michael's to pick up another 9ft garland for the porch...that's right, I'm decorating for Christmas. I also got a really pretty wreath for the front door and it was 50% off! All the Halloween stuff was on mega sale, so we got a second candy bucket just like Ben's...but instead of 3.99 we paid .99! Ah well...

A quick snack from the McDonald's dollar menu and we were home again. We had limited time to get ready and take Benjamin to the neighbor's house. Our church small group meets every other Saturday. Tonight we went out for pizza and then go-karting. It was SO fun. I didn't kart of course. Richard won the race...kind of. He didn't have the best lap time, but he went 13 laps when everyone else went 12. Plus, his race name was "BlackSmoke" and he wore a black jumpsuit. Haha!
The group in their "head socks" to protect their heads from used helmets.

BlackSmoke is in the lead!

And here he is...so sexy in that black jumpsuit. MmmHmm!

Once we got home, we picked Ben up and then came home to fix our ottoman. Benjamin was so cute, trying to help daddy out in every possible way.

Benjamin has the drill. He actually has such excellent hand/eye coordination that he was able to get the drill bit into the hole in the wood. We were impressed anyway...

What a great life we have. We are truly blessed! :-D

Still Sorting...

It's overflowing from the garage into the house! But...I'm not too worried...yet. All my stuff is sorted, so now I get to sit back and watch the other 27 boxes get sorted by Rick.

Here we see him going through 5 plastic totes of items from his childhood, highschool, and college. I think he enjoys it.
Here he is dipping into the past with a note from a previous girlfriend..."hey stud muffin..."
After that he got wise to my picture snapping...and he made me stop.
So here are some of Ben.

He was singing to me...didn't have the video camera so I thought I'd snap a picture.

This one is from this morning. He wanted me to put socks on his hands and feet. So I did and he is pointing to the San Diego scrap book (one of his favorite books to flip through). His hair looks totally red in this picture and he could maybe use a spray on tan, but I still think he's adorable. :)

The Election...

I haven't said much about this election, mainly because I don't care for the drama of politics.
Now that it's "over" it's clear that it's not over. I am disappointed in how people are behaving. Not only McCain fans but Obama ones too. Sore losers, sore winners.

Have we forgotten who is ultimately in control? I read something this morning from a friend of a friend. I think it sums up how I feel perfectly:

Just recognize that the Kingdom encompasses your primary existence, and then it shouldn't matter where you live and who the leader is. Are you primarily Christian, or primarily American?

I'm nervous for the future of our country, especially with a husband in the military, but I trust that God is in control and I'm going to keep praying that the coming changes are for the better.

Prayers for Aunt Angie

Can everyone just say a little prayer for my Aunt Ang. In September she finished radiation treatment for her tumor. Since then she's been feeling sick. Flu like symptoms and this past week/month has been especially terrible. Her sugar levels have been crazy because she is having a hard time keeping food/liquid down. Today she decided to go to the ER. That's all I know for now, but I'm sure she would appreciate the extra prayers. Thanks.

A few Accomplishments...

We managed to get a few things done today...

I set up the Christmas tree. :) I love Christmas.

We hung a picture above the fireplace.

As I mentioned earlier, the rest of our household goods arrived on Wednesday. Can we say nightmare? Our garage was SO close to being organized and clean, then bam...boxes of junk arrive.
I found my 6 boxes..and I consolidated them to 3 smaller ones. I had a large rubber maid tote full of all of my high school stuff...You couldn't pay me to go back to high school. Everything (notes from friends, doodles, poems I wrote...) was so unbelievably lame. I recycled all the paper and trashed the rest. I saved a few of my favorites of course, but for the most part...ick. Goodbye forever.
The other stuff of mine is from my childhood. Dolls, barbies, trinkets and cards from my grandparents. The photo below is of a creepy doll that came from my great grandma. Does anyone else remember it sitting in her house?
Rick's stuff occupies most of the other boxes. He's been going through them slowly and I'm proud of him for that. Most of it is stuff from his childhood, but there is also a ridiculous amount of Lego's, four boxes of clothes, and his Wheaties box collection.
We've sorted through several of the boxes, mine, Rick's, and everything else seems to be papers and books...it's a lot of stuff, I wouldn't mind if it had all stayed in storage.

This is the end of today....it really is as bad as it looks. (See Monica?)

After we got sick of sorting and cleaning and tossing we needed to run to Sears for a few things...Target called my name and it was good because they had a sale on caffeine free Coke. I really love Coke. We were thinking about getting Benjamin a magna doodle, but Richard saw this aqua doodle thing instead. I think Emily may have mentioned it to me before, but anyway, it's a great thing. You fill the magic pen with water and it only writes on the magic mat. It dries fast enough to keep Ben from thinking he needs more paper and it can't write on anything but the mat. It was supposed to be for Christmas..but we stink at that, and both of us kind of wanted to play with it too...I know, we're pathetic. Maybe we'll wrap it up and re-gift it....
