Sad Saturday...

Blogger won't let me move these pictures where I want them...so....
Part of the glass, Richard kicked most of it out in the mall parking lot...

We had to drive home like this...we were all freezing. Benjamin kept trying to pull is coat up and over his face. We felt terrible. When we got home his little hands were freezing and I asked him if he wanted to take a bath. He climbed up stairs and got in bed instead. Poor baby. It's been a long day.

*********

We had a plan for the day to go to first go pick up a sled that we purchased from craigslist. That mission started out fine..but took a quick turn for the worse when we couldn't find the house and backed into a mailbox. Frustrating...it wasn't just a regular mailbox, it was a tank. Firmly cemented into the ground, big, black, steel, the kind you can put packages in. Also...remember that tail light we had out a few weeks ago? Yeah, that was the drivers side. So we have 2 drivers side tail lights in perfect condition and a now a crunched passenger tail light. Awesome!

We picked up the sled. It's a toboggan type that I wanted to sit on my porch as a Christmas decoration. Richard's idea. I was thinking along the lines of a tree or a snowman figure or something, but this still looks great and saves us tons of money that we can now use to fix the tail light. :-/
Next...we were headed to some furniture stores to find the new pieces for our downstairs living room. We sold the leather stuff last week (for more than we paid, yay!) and planned to get a sectional or just something smaller that better suited the room...anyway...break downs in communication due to much stress building over the past few weeks led to an argument. After many tears on my part, better communication, and I'm sorry's we decided to continue our search for the perfect living room furniture. We hit 3 stores today (making the total somewhere around 7 since we started looking) and then decided to call it quits and go to the mall.
We ended up at the mall around 6pm. I had a coupon for a free tote and 20% off from Old Navy that I wanted to use for some cute stuff for new baby. Sounds good right? Well...a few hours later, nearing 9pm, we came back out to the parking lot to find our drivers side window busted out. Glass everywhere. Floor, backseat, passenger seat, dash, literally. it. was. Everywhere.
What were they after? Just my Panasonic Lumix (point and shoot camera) that was in the cup holder and hey, while we're at it, lets see what's in the center console...Mmmm! $300 cash! Let's take that too. Oh and some Nike sunglasses?! Why not?
I hope they enjoy the videos and pictures of my baby playing with his daddy.
It's interesting. We've had our truck for 3 years now. Granted, it wasn't driven all three years because part of the time we were in Germany. But she's made it cross country 3 times and has always been clean and even still has some new car smell. Since we've been in WA? Richard bumped a parked military vehicle scratching the front bumper but doing no damage whatsoever to the army vehicle, Benjamin took a nail from the garage floor and put some nice scratches in the front bumper, the drivers side tail light stopped working and was replaced, the passenger tail light was crunched by a mega mailbox and now the drivers window has been smashed to pieces.
We've been stressing over finding a second car so that I could go to doctor's appointments, grocery shopping, bible study, play group..etc. But we decided that all the stress it was causing wasn't worth it. We were tired of looking at cars in our price range and finding that they were all kind of junky cars that would most likely require more and more money as time went on...So, we decided to give up and turn it over to God. We prayed that God would take care of our car situation and thanked Him for the one great working car we already had. I'm trying to remain trusting, but I'll admit I'm a little confused.
Anyway...we're exhausted. Goodnight!

Kitchen Dancing, The Tradition Continues...

*You'll have to click on the pix to see the whole thing!*

We have a little tradition in my family. I believe it started around the time our house was finished. I'm sure I've mentioned it before, but it's a little thing we like to call kitchen dancing. Some of my best loved memories are from the kitchen....From Ken and Robin's Amie duet, The Liz, Dad, Ashley, and occasional Robert/Katie We Built this City air band, to my beloved WHS cheerleader routine...oh and who could forget Emily's rendition of Alicia Keys' I keep on Falling....

Kitchen Dancing involves singing, dancing, looking ridiculous, and usually a little air band. Our parents have made certain that we are all very well rounded in the music department. Dance routines learned on youtube are optional of course.

Please do not be jealous of my signature moves....

Anyway...as a housewarming gift, my parents sent us an under the cupboard radio/cd player for our kitchen. Richard put it up yesterday and we popped in our new favorite CD, the HSM3 soundtrack, and kitchen danced the night away. Benjamin was laughing and we were laughing and...we turned out the lights and danced to the glow of the Christmas tree. :-D

Oh...and just in case you thought Kitchen Dancing wasn't for everyone...here's some evidence. Even the Special K has moves you've never seen. ;)

Call Me Lazy But....

Is spaghetti really worth it?

Mmm, dropped these on the floor on purpose!

Good thing I was smart enough to take off most of his clothes first....

Hahaha, I told him, "Smile for the camera."
