tidbits...

Evey -

"Me don't want woses (roses) on mine cheeks!" (I'm assuming someone told her she had rosy cheeks..)

"Jesus lives in 'hio (ohio) wiff Noni and Katie"

"wips are oney for mommy and evey, not addy, she's a beebee." (Lips (lipstick) are only for mommy and evey, not addy, she's a baby.)

Ben -
I asked them where Jesus lives...

"uhhh (thinking) Jesus lives in church. He only wears a blue shirt with a tie."

At our weekend away, the kids had dinner with the care givers..I asked what they had to eat..

"WE HAD DIRTY CARROTS, and that was NASSY (nasty). These carrots had green and slimy food on it. I didn't eat any of those dirty carrots. Ew." (The carrots were cooked and seasoned..hahaha)

On the drive to the hotel Ev was trying to un buckle herself...

Evey: me want out my carseat
Ben: Evey, you can't get out, if we have a crash you need to be buckled. (Evey continues trying to unbuckle)
Ben: evey! No, you don't unbuckle when we drive, EVER!

One of the many joys of parenting is listening to them talk...it's especially more joy filled when they aren't fighting with each other, but having intelligent conversations. I love to get little glimpses into how they think...i.e. Evelyn not wanting roses on her cheeks and Ben not wanting to eat dirty carrots...crack. me. up. =)

Snow Days

Some days being a mommy is hard work...but other days it just comes so easily. Today was one of those days, my children were cracking my head off all day long.

We had another random winter storm, they were sitting in the window looking at the snow, and they played this morning and again when Daddy got home...

Some where in the middle we went to Cabela's, Ben asked me funny questions and told every person (at least 6) who called Addy a boy, "That's not a boy!! That's Addy!"

We colored, we laughed, Daddy came home and we went sledding, Ben tried snowboarding, Evey tried to build a snowman, and Addyson just laughed at it all.

It really was just another day in paradise... =)

Want a series of great sermons on love and relationships? Check out The Peasant Princess series!

We're going through them in order with our small group right now and Rick and I have had some great discussions sparked from these. They are sermons on Song of Songs, and they are very well done (and totally funny too! )...they are about an hour each, start with number 1 at the bottom..and let me know what you think!

Almost Wendy's Chili

Actually I think mine is better... =)

I didn't make a meal plan yet this week, so I decided to attempt crock pot chili with what I had on hand, I've never done it before, so why not?

2 lbs ground beef (I don't know how much I really had, it was left over taco meat)
1 tsp taco seasoning ( I use ortega)
1tb onion flakes (I am not sure, I didn't measure, but accidentally poured some in with the spoon side open)
2 cups chicken broth
1 14.5oz can S&W diced tomatoes with green chilis
1 10oz can Ro*Tel diced tomatoes with green chilis
1 4oz can Ortega diced jalapenos
1 15oz can bush's light red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
2 6oz cans Contadina tomato paste
1 4oz can Ortega fire roasted green chilis
1 15 oz can Ranch Style beans (Ranch Style is the brand I guess, I've never heard of them before I used them in my chili)
1 14.5oz can S&W premium chili beans
1 fresh green bell pepper diced
I simmered it for 4ish hours on low in the crock pot.
It turned out to be really tasty, I didn't add any extra salt, as I'm sure the sodium content is outta control....

Rick didn't like it, but I just learned that my darling husband doesn't really like chili at all...Which is fine to just find out, because other than last night, I've probably only ever made chili one other time in our 5+ years of marriage.

His Forever

Jesus, friend of sinners
Loved me ’ere I knew Him
Drew me with His cords of love
Tightly bound me to Him
’Round my heart still closely twined
The ties that none can sever
For I am His and He is mine
Forever and forever
Jesus, friend of sinners
A crown of thorns You wore for me
Bruised for my transgressions
Pierced for my iniquities
The wrath of God that I deserved
Was poured out on the Innocent
He took my place, my soul to save
Now I am His forever
Jesus, friend of sinners
I love to tell the story
Redeeming love has been my theme
And will be when in glory
Not death nor life nor anything
Can ever separate me
O love that will not let me go
Yes, I am His forever
Who couldn't be moved by a song like this? I can't even sing it during worship, just close my eyes and listen because it moves me that much. It's so amazing to know that God loves us that much. I can only hope that Rick and I are successful at teaching our children the powerful and steadfast love of Jesus.
Romans 8...read it ;)
