About Me

Well, it is official. Benjamin is fully able to pull himself up. He has even started to cruise the furniture and other things a little bit. I'm excited. I am trying to teach him how to clap now. I don't know if it's working. ;)

I really have nothing new to say...Life seems so busy, but I have no clue where my time goes. (I say that all the time)

I will try to have a new video soon.

It's Been Awhile...

Time for an update...

On Monday, Ben and I went to Detroit with Emily and James. I wanted to go shopping with Emily and just spend a little time with them before we leave.

After I posted about finding a good home for Gunner, Emily called me and told me that James' grandparents were looking for another dog. They are young (still in their sixties), they've owned goldens before and know what to expect, Nano is home all day, they have a fenced in yard, and they have a love for animals in general. So I was satisfied and said yes.

We took Gunner with us on Monday. He had a nice car ride...but the real fun started when we got there. James' family has a golden named Reggie and the two dogs got along perfectly. James' mom also has seven cats and Gunner could have cared less about any of them.

An insight about Gunner...He is a dogs dog. I honestly believe he prefers animals to people. He did not care when I left him in Detroit. He was searching for his ball and standing at the back door to get outside. He loves to be outside, but he is a wanderer, and that is where a fence comes in handy. Gunner would play ALL day if you let him...this is where having another dog is nice.

Initially I was opting for a trial period. I was not sure if I was ready to give him up. But already, life has been much easier. It has been kind of nice to not have to go out to the garage and play with him and worry about what Ben might be doing in the house. Or ignoring Gunner on days when Ben was just too demanding.

Anyway...

Benjamin has added a few more things to his January list of accomplishments.
He can now get into a sitting position from his tummy. From tummy, he gets up on his hands and knees and just kind of turns over to sit on his bottom. It's adorable. I will try to catch it on video soon.
He is now attempting to crawl on his hands and knees. It ends up looking more like the worm though. :) He is getting very fast and I now have to watch him more carefully. When he sees something he wants he goes for it.
He has figured out how to open cupboard doors. I am borrowing a walker from our neighbors and when he is rolling around in the kitchen he will open every cupboard he can reach. He gets annoyed when the walker gets in the way. My mom has a washstand with two drawers and a cupboard that he can reach. He will pull himself up on the two drawer handles and then open the door. Probably dangerous, but pretty cute.
He is pulling up now too. On ANYTHING he can reach. My mom's furniture is too tall, but laundry baskets, the bathtub, and the kitchen chairs are all favorites for him.
I'm constantly amazed at how fast he learns to do things.

I am doing fine too. Just being a mom and missing my husband. Parenting is more fun when the joys are shared. (Shared responsibility doesn't hurt either)

We are getting ready for our move. I asked my uncle to borrow his trailer, and the date is set. I am leaving on February 7. Just 12 short days away. I can't wait.

In Rick news...He is in the field again, and last night I got to talk to him for a few. He said it was his worst day yet. He had to carry around something like 20/30 pounds of ammo ( can't remember) That made his back hurt..and then his gun broke. So instead of shooting blanks he was running around saying "bang bang." It was also cold and maybe raining. I thought the bang bang was kind of funny though.

I suppose that's all to report for now.

Average...

...I took Benjamin to the doctor yesterday. He got his four month shots. He cried for less than a minute and was relatively normal for the rest of the day. So that was nice. I gave him Tylenol before bed because his legs were a little sore.

As far as sleep solutions go...Dr. P. said I absolutely have to stop sleeping in the same room as Ben. So I tried it last night. He did wake up a few times, but went back to sleep on his own. So...I am going to try it again tonight...

I am ready to go to Georgia and have a little more space to spread my stuff. I will miss my fam though.

Anyway. Today was spent lounging. I did laundry and played a little Wii. I also spent some time with Gunner and A LOT of time with Ben.
He's learning more and more everyday. I can't wait to be with Rick. I hate that he is missing things. Ben is getting much better at creeping/crawling and has now figured out how to pull himself up. I put him in a Rubbermaid tote today and he was able to cruise around the edges of it. Pretty cool. I love to watch him, he continues to amaze me.

It's getting late. I should really go to bed....
